Microphone Test

The goal of this test is to evaluate the audio recording capabilities of a device. There are 2 versions of this test. The Automatic test can quickly check if the microphones are functioning or not, but it does not account for the recording quality. It does this by playing audio through the speaker, and listening back with the microphones. Make sure the speaker is set to maximum volume for this test, to ensure it is heard by the microphones.

Pass: Each microphone successfully emits sound which is evaluated by the device.

Fail: At least 1 microphone failed to emit audible sound.

The Manual test allows you to record and listen back to audio so that you can precisely evaluate recording quality. In the case that audio quality is poor, you should make sure it isn’t just the speaker that is faulty, by performing a manual speaker test. Pressing “Record & Play All” begins to go through each microphone one by one, giving you a few seconds to record audio each time, then plays it back for you to listen to. You can always record and playback audio for specific microphones by pressing their respective microphone button. After audio has played, you will gain the option to mark it as a Pass or Fail.

Pass (Manual): All recordings are audible and clear, and you marked them all as “Pass”

Fail (Manual): At least 1 microphone did not record clear sound, and you marked it as “Fail”
