Light Sensor Test

Last updated on Aug 30, 20241 min read

A device with a light sensor should be able to detect changes in brightness around it. There are 2 versions of this test, as they differ between iOS and Android:

  • Android: A simple bar appears, displaying the exact measurement of the light sensor. Observe the change in this number as you cover the device or place bright lights near it.
  • iOS: Use the on screen buttons to set the brightness to a certain value, then change the brightness around the device. Observe the screen automatically changing brightness in response.

Pass: The device is responsive to the changes in lighting conditions.

Fail: This device is inconsistent with sensing lighting changes, or provides random responses.
