Proximity Sensor Test

Can run in background

The proximity sensor is responsible for detecting objects or surfaces being close to the device, such as in the case of a phone’s screen turning off automatically when you are making a call with it, and raise it to your head. In this test, for most devices you can simply hover your hand near the screen to activate it. However, due to many newer devices now having “Virtual Proximity Sensors”, you may have to move the device at the same time you attempt to cover it. The simplest way to do this is to place the device’s screen down onto a surface.

Pass: The sensor detects being covered.

Fail (Manual): You are unable to get the sensor to respond. Make sure to take into account that it may be a virtual sensor, in which case follow the instructions above.
